First, Instagram — if that’s what Brits call “IG” :-) — is a marketing tool, not a sales tool (the way it’s used by photographers). However, it cannot be confused with being a marketplace per se because nothing is either bought or sold on the platform; nor does it facilitate administrative, back-office work. It’s simply useful for self-promotion. My thesis has nothing to do with that idea. OK, that’s out of the way.

The piece you read (“Let’s Fix the Photo Business”) is just an introduction to the longer but more substantive thesis, “Fixing Photography,” which I hope you are curious to read before mulling your thoughts and making any further observations or reaching any conclusions.
