Please don’t forget THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE: e.g., “Photograph ©2018 Photographer Name”. It’s really the only “citation” that counts. It’s traditionally known as a photo credit. Its history is that, in exchange for lower fees billed by photographers for editorial publication, a copyrighted photo credit was included, so other potential buyers would know whom to contact regarding payment for subsequent publishing uses.

It was a commonly accepted business practice, when billing clients, from public relations firms to magazines like Time, that if they did not include a photo credit, they would be billed — and would have to pay — three times the originally-billed publication fee.
