The unequivocal value of anonymity, both culturally and psychologically, outweighs any corporate-claimed commercial prerogatives or government-claimed security prerogatives for implementing universal facial recognition. For such an insidious technology to reach “normalcy” is not as likely to happen as it was laid out by the specious logic in this interview because it is an inherently human — an emotional — issue. It is also a clear threat to freedom and democracy.
